Ground cullet is used on roads for
Aggregate Base Course
An unbound (no asphalt) layer of compacted aggregate on which road surface is laid. Cullet could improve the stability of an aggregate base mix. Cullet is also being used to supply the fines fraction in recycled concrete aggregate mixes.
Asphalt Base Course – Glassphalt
An underlayer of asphalt paving that contains aggregate.
Asphalt Surface Course – Glassphalt
The roadway surface layer made from asphalt containing glass aggregate. Cullet enhances nighttime visibility of the road edge and causes snow to melt sooner.

Chemical composition of ground cullets
There are no free elements in UGC cullet. All the oxides are chemically combined in this inorganic product of the fusion that took place in the original melting process. A typical chemical analysis is as follows:
SiO2     72.50%
Al203     .16%
MgO     3.65%
So3     .39%
Fe2O3     .20%
CaO     9.18%
Na2O     13.20%
K2O     .12%
